Guild M-75 Binding Repair and Electronics Upgrade
This Guild M-75 came in with the binding separating from the body and some of the electronics failing.
Here, we can see the binding on the lower half of the body is pulling away significantly, and the binding at the base of the neck has started to peel away as well.
With some gentle assistance, the binding on the lower half came off in one piece. This piece is salvageable so we will glean off the glue residue from it and the body and reattach it.
Luckily, on the neck, the binding was still mostly attached. With some glue and a little pressure, it was good to go.
There was a very small gap at the base of the guitar where the binding had split. we were able to get a small piece fabricated to fill the gap. THis piece will end up being covered by the tailpiece once it is reinstalled but, we like paying attention to these little details.
The electronics in this guitar needed to be replaced. We attached strings to each component before pulling them out of the body. As we replace each piece, we move the string to the new one. Once they have all been replaced, we can simply pull on the other end of the string to get each piece back into it's corresponding place in the body with ease.
